Image backup
Image backup is a copy of your entire Windows device, as well as of your system, installed applications, configuration settings, services and data. So it contains the copy of a hard drive, partition or logical disk.
When is it important to do an image backup?
Image backup is the most comprehensive way for fast protection of your entire device with all the data and settings. Thus, in the event of failure, there is an option for your data, installed programs, and configurations to be restored into the same or an entirely new device. So, image backup offers great flexibility when it comes to data recovery. It enables very simple and fast migration between hardware - all you need to do is to restore the entire system from your image backup to a new device or a virtual machine. Because it is up to you to decide which device you can use to restore to, either physical or virtual machine, both of them will have all the same properties of your backed up disk.
The great benefit of images is that they can track changes made to a file over some period of time, and they are capable of applying changes to these files to recreate them as they were at a specific moment.
